What the Pros Say ...
"Forum Floor is the best field protection product we've ever used."
-- Mike Bagdon, for 30 years the Head Groundskeeper at Candlestick (3Com) Park, San Francisco

Case Study -- 3Com Park, San Francisco
Music / Dance Festival
Four-Day Rental Installation -- 60% Coverage

Application Period -- Over a sod primarily bermuda with some rye, installation of Forum Floor® began at 5:00 pm and continued until 9:30 pm.  After that partial application, the next morning the crew went back to work and completed the task that afternoon.  Four days later, on June 18, a ten-man crew commenced removal and completed the job in seven hours.

Weight / Force Levels -- During the event, attendance levels reached nearly 30,000 in and around the 3Com Park stadium, including exterior venues.  At the height of the festival, on the Forum Floor® an estimated 10,000 young people were shoulder-to-shoulder, jumping in unison to a driving techno music beat.

Results -- After a four-day coverage, and a maximum high-stress pounding, the floor was undamaged and the sod was healthiest in those high impact areas covered by the product.  In the endzone, an area barricaded, off-limits to attendees and uncovered, the sod exhibited the effects of drying.  Similarly, in lightly trafficked areas protected by a supplemental product for less than 30 hours, the sod, while still healthy, was less green than the 50,000 square feet covered by Forum Floor®.

Residual Effects -- After heavy use, Forum Floor® imprints a ridge-like pattern in the grass -- but only in the grass.  Even in areas with the highest concentration of attendees and highest force impact, the sod was undamaged.  After a few days of normal care the indented areas of grass lifted and the surface was again level.

Comparison / Contrast -- The drier appearance of the areas not covered by Forum Floor® is attributable to the inability to water from event setup to event breakdown.  The perforated Forum Floor® allowed the covered areas of sod to breath and get sun while retaining dew accumulated in the mornings of the four-day installation.
